Dear parents and guardians,
Out of an abundance of caution, I made the decision to cancel school today after learning about a vague threat of violence against our students early this morning. The Bond County Sheriff’s Office and Fayette County Sheriff’s Office have investigated the situation and determined it is safe for students to attend school tomorrow.
According to the sheriff’s office, the individual who made the threat has been identified and did not live in our community. We greatly appreciate the sheriff’s office help in quickly determining that this threat was not credible and that nobody in our district is in any imminent danger.
I recognize the decision to cancel school abruptly was an inconvenience for parents and students, but I felt it was important to put the safety of our students first. Our district will always take these matters seriously and strive to provide a safe learning environment for our students.
I look forward to seeing everyone at school tomorrow.
Sincerely,
Robert Koontz
Superintendent of Mulberry Grove CUSD #1
